Words of praise are so important to
us and hurtful words cut so deep. Why do mere words out of the mouths of others
exert more influence over our lives than we do over ourselves?
If
you could receive the word directly from God Himself, it would be a far more
meaningful experience than reading the "rote word" of the Lord from a
dead book. We all have an innate capacity to communicate with the creative
force of good within us but we fail to recognize what that good is. In his day,
Moses followed a deep conviction long before he knew anything about God,
religion and his own ultimate destiny.
If
you look carefully, all human institutions have one thing in common: they are
all based on what we call "knowledge”.
If
you are ambitious, you can go to college and get a degree which qualifies you
as one who knows how to provide answers to the problems of others. But if men
were more self-sufficient, together, centered and perfect, they would not need
to look to others for problem-solving. They would be able to resolve their own
problems. Indeed, they might not have any at all!
The
loss of self-sufficiency leads to dependency upon other people. Remember the
three "D's" of corruption: debilitation, dependency and dread.
What
is it that debilitates us you might ask? The answer believe it or not is
language, the spoken word that leads away from the common sense of the heart.
It is one thing to have common sense and yet another to put it into practice
especially under pressure.
Seduced
from his original ground of being, man withers like a flower without sunlight.
He forgets who he is (or should be). He becomes weak and decadent and is preyed
upon until he dies.
