WARNING!
EMOTIONAL MATURITY
Some
People Hate To Eat Alone
Quite often, we
associate the comfort of food or sex with the person who originally made us
feel comfortable about eating or sex. As a result, we will tend to think of
that person as we eat, or masturbate, or indeed, copulate. We may disguise the
original seducer's image, merging it with the personality of someone in the
present so as not to have to face it; yet, still the seducer is with us,
influencing our behavior.
Do you see now why
you are at the beck and call of those you have "used" in the past?
On the other hand,
you may be one of those who are compelled to eat alone because it is too
embarrassing for you to eat with others. Or perhaps a sexual experience has
made you so guilty that you are forced to go it alone and masturbate for your
relief. But even so, you will be thinking about that damned lover, or whoever
or whatever it was that "helped" you over your inhibition.
Darkening
the Children's Light
As a parent, you find
the modesty you left behind as a child reappearing in such trivia as fussing
over your own child's food. Or you may feel embarrassment over his emerging
consciousness of sexuality. Or you worry about his going to the bathroom—God
forbid he misses a day!
Could it mean . . .
? Possibly . . . that he was becoming perfect? Horrors! Out comes the laxative.
And when he goes,
so does your anxiety. Having to respond honestly to his sluggish appetite and
inquiring mind, you feel threatened, and your self-indulgent consciousness is
pricked to awaken. Alarmed, you urge him to eat.
"He's just a growing
boy", you tell yourself, "I'm only doing it for his own good”.
