THE MYSTERY AND MASTERY
OF LOVE AND MARRIAGE
PART I
They are holding
hands and gazing fondly at each other
That is the
beginning - you know the familiar end of the story and it never is a very
pretty picture. His friends are saying
"Leave her alone--what do you want with her? She only wants you for what you've got
- she's no good for you", but he can't hear what they are saying. Meanwhile her ma is chanting a similar
refrain - "Why do you want to marry that bum?", but he makes her feel
so good that she can't leave him alone.
Strangely they are
destined to reveal what they are in reality, each will become a fat, ugly, or
mean little "munch And paradoxically those no-good qualities in the other
are what each requires and needs to "grow" their own peculiar
motives.
He is pretending
not to see her flaws, and she feels kind of saintly, and for a brief moment in
time and space each seems complete and perfect as they are.
Now - let me show
you what you never see until you are married and what you can do about it.
Although equality
is attempted and acclaimed philosophically and legally, this state does not
and can never hope to exist between husband and wife.
It is impossible to
have two generals in one home without terrible conflict between battling
egos. The children become confused or
learn to play one parent against the other, often emerging as
commander-in-chief”.
In every animal
battle there is naturally a loser; but people living as quarreling beasts can
never win. Home life without the order
of love deteriorates into a jungle of confusion, rebellion, hatred and a
cesspool of disease, the leader being the meanest and ugliest beast, often
controlling affairs undercover and appearing to be the kindest, sweetest
member of the chimp group.
The male egotist
playing God seeks escape from the boundaries of common sense values in a quest
for power and glory. The most common
accomplice is a designing or bamboozled wife. With her temptation energizing and supporting his ego-madness, he seeks
to conquer the world and to win fame, honor and riches. Alas, through charting a course of his own
design, he is soon at odds with his own conscience and a subject of the accomplice.
