A Transcript from One Of Roy
Masters' Radio Programs.
LADY: My husband
recently left and now I have the main responsibility for bringing up our little
five-year-old girl.
RM: Do you resent it?
LADY: Well, I probably do.
RM: What do you mean, you probably do! Of course you
do. Always answer honestly yes or no but no probablies. That way I can relate
to you more perfectly.
LADY: OK then I do.
RM: Then you ought not. That's your problem, right
there. If you resent your daughter, your daughter will grow up resenting you,
feeling inadequate and guilty. You are going to project all kinds of problems
into her.
LADY: I know but we seemed to be doing such a good job
together and then he left.
RM: Whatever the reason he left and I won't go into
that now, I can guess but whatever he did wrong or failed to do right, it
shouldn't make you a bitter person. Remember, adversity can make you a better
person but if it makes you a bitter person then expect trouble with her,
because she's going to feel your bitterness. She's going to feel unloved and
rejected...
LADY: I know. That's exactly what I don't want to
happen.
RM: She's going to feel that there's something wrong
with her...when, in fact, the wrong lies within you.
