If someone hates you one moment and smothers you with love the next, what are his true feelings for you? Where is the real person? Think for a moment and you will see there isn't one. What kind of creature swings between moods of kindness and acceptance, cruelty and rejection? It is a manipulator.

A manipulator is one who himself has fallen victim to manipulation and as a result is under the control of another.

It is amazing to observe the personality change. Manipulators cannot say "no" to more powerful personalities but their cruelty and willfulness emerge in relationships with those weaker than they. These in turn will pass the cruelty on, inflicting it where they may. No doubt you have seen this: A common instance is your mannerly ("nice") children get caught up with the wrong crowd and when they come home, you hardly know them. When you try to correct them, they put up a stubborn show of vulgarity in defense of their wrong.

That stubborn streak is the original willfulness that entered the human race through sin. When you encounter it, you are not dealing with the person but with a powerful will operating through that person. One way or another, we all have surrendered our will to a seductive authority.

Stubbornness in defense of wrong is a very dangerous animal. To cope with it, you must deal with your family in a very special way. You must not get angry when they try to provoke you and you must not fall for their love games.

The first thing to understand is that it is not your child, wife or husband you are opposing but another will (that has displaced their own). They defend this will as their own to save face and because it has been supportive or they may not know it is not their own will. They may have become so identified with it that they are enslaved in its service, thinking they themselves want to do what the alien presence urges; to steal or kill even to commit suicide. If you don't understand what you are dealing with, it will suck you in. Your vital force will be joined with that hidden power.

In children, the ancient wish to play God translates into a craving for acceptance.
This craving makes a child susceptible to pressure from his friends. Children will give their hard-earned money and their bodies if need be, to hold on to low-life friends who stroke their pride. They are blind, defensive and possessive in all their relationships but the manipulator's will in them is felt through their being possessed. If you are not wise to the ways of the malevolent spirit of the world, operating through your children, it will wreck your home and family life.
