HOW TO GET (AND KEEP) OUR CHILDREN
OUT OF TROUBLE
AUTHOR’S NOTE:
Every
melody has a theme . . . and a variation of that theme. This text sings a song.
It tells of the cause of sickness, and disease, divorce and child-problems,
which is: "WE WANT TO BE RIGHT WHEN WE ARE WRONG".
As
we learn to live emotionally from our children we become dependent upon
them. As our need grows so does what
seems to be love. Actually this
"love" grows into terrifying demands which the child cannot resist.
In this unhealthy relationship guilt accrues for both.
While
the child wishes to glorify and justify mother, and as long as mother lives her
life through the child, neither have a life of their own. Each is a mental, emotional and physical extension
of the other.
They
can become very jealous or fearful for each-others life. Not for their own
sake, but because of the personal loss.
What we are emotionally involved with is part of us and can cause pain
as if it were occurring in us. A
smashed fender can feel as bad as or worse than a broken arm.
The
child is invariably an extension of mother's ego-self, in whom she vainly hopes
for "immortality", living in her child as an incarnate
"spirit-god".
