A
good rule of thumb is this: the more sex, the less love; the less sex, the more
love may come through. The more sex, the less control a man has over his fallen
nature until he is a slave. True love emerges only to the degree that one can
deny the ego-need for acceptance of one's fallen state.
It
requires a certain nobility to love a woman beyond one's own selfish need for
her but to love her more than the pleasure she provides is the true caring that
is necessary if a man and woman hope to find happiness together.
All
sinners crave acceptance, because acceptance enables them to persistently deny
Truth. Denial of Truth is the sin that awakens Eros. One's need for the
illusory security of approval can change one into a seductive woman or a
sex-crazed man, as the case may be.
Since
the fall, we find this misplaced need in man: the crying of his soul to be joined
to the spirit of corruption (present in woman since the fall) instead of to
God. Adam did not correct that spirit in woman then and his descendants call
upon it now.
"A man's problem boils down to
sex and his need for it”.
Man's
spiritual need for union with another (ideally God) identifies with woman in
his thoughts. Continuously thinking about woman as a means of completion
awakens an ever stronger sexual desire just as surely as thinking about food
increases the appetite. It works like this. Let us say that you become angry
because of a wrong response to a temptation. As a result of your unappeased
anger, you feel a void inside.
