A COLLECTION OF THOUGHTS ON
THE EVOLUTION OF MAN
All
of the trouble in the world can be reduced to simple terms. We have a common
weakness called ego. That ego is
subject to various pressures, persuasions, and temptations. Whether we respond to temptation or are
claimed by our culture, we will not admit to being wrong. In excusing our fault
we actually side with what made us wrong, and give it power to make us faultier.
The
peculiarities of various nations and cultures have given rise to the even faultier
notion that Truth is relative and not absolute, because Truth is different in
different parts of the world. There are
many traditional variations and peculiarities in error, but none in Truth.
Truly,
people are claimed by different traditions, customs, and dictatorships —
whether cannibal, communist, or democratic. Tradition, religion and politics
breed differences in people and keep them subject to that different way as
being the right way -- and man's pride, unable to admit to fault, defends his
heritage (no matter how wrong it might be) even to the death. Proud men would rather be dead than wrong;
they don't know that they will be both dead and wrong.
We
make the law of God to non-effect by the traditions of men (Scripture). By practicing tradition we show that we
agree with what has made us the way we are.
Secretly we don't really agree with it, because it has stolen our self-hood
and made us guilty but our pride rejects the idea that our allegiance is
compulsive and not a loving or patriotic one.
